The Pagani Zonda in Hong Kong | Absolutely glorious! | Hong Kong

I am a leading expert in Hong Kong on the Car Vanity Plate Culture also known as Personalised Car Licence Plate Culture (and not to mention photographing supercars) which garners worldwide attention particularly at Chinese New Year in Hong Kong and I have also taken well over 100,000 + images of cars in Hong Kong, it is a thing!

Hong Konger’s love their cars and luxury cars in particular are highly prized and shown off, as well they should.

It is not an easy job keeping track as Government records are not updated on a monthly record basis but mainly on a yearly record basis.

Therefore the numbers below are accurate as of 31st December 2024, the 2025 figures will not be released for another month or two

Actual numbers of important car brands | as of 31.12.2024 | Hong Kong

When you consider that Hong Kong is a small city with a population of just 7.54 Million people, the numbers are staggering and I am making the most of it.

The Hong Kong Government is committed to phasing out petrol cars by 2035, so, so sad and already EV’s are making inroads into sales of petrol cars because Hong Kong is a testing ground for seemingly every Mainland Chinese EV brand and there seems to be no end of manufacturers with subrands and subrands of subrands and it is hard to keep track, they sell here because of price and price only, sute they look nice and such but it is the price that is driving sales,

If you had not guessed already I am not a fan of EV’s, not one bit, they have no soul, no history, no racing car pedigree and more importantly no engine noise, I just lover the rumble of a Mercedes G Wagen, the crisp burble of a Maserati or the amazing roars coming from Pagani, Lamborghini and Ferrari’s and the noise from a McLaren, wow!

I do not do food tours

I am pleased to say a lot of Food Tour Companies will have egg tarts on their tasting menu

I have very specific reasons and part of it is that I do not speak Cantonese or write Chinese, I am from Yorkshire in England and I lack the language gene and it is not through lack of trying and yes a lot of restaurants do not have English menu’s or staff who speak conversational English.

.. and yet I have eaten at close to 1,400 restaurants in Hong Kong since January 2nd 1972, my wife was born in Hong Kong and we have been together over 40 years and her first language is Cantonese and a lot of her family are Chinese or half Chinese so I have never had much of an issue!

This does not translate to doing food tours though, yes, I could do them, no problem there but they would never ever be as good as the food tours done by my friends (see the 3 links above) most of their awesome guides are locally born Hong Kong Chinese and obviously food culture is part of their DNA, it is impossible for me to compete with that!

So please feel free to contact them for food tours
