AI Tour Itineraries for Hong Kong, Timing is a huge issue

Two Hours with a Hong Kong Original - The Real Story Over Coffee (or not!)
Most visitors to Hong Kong never book a traditional tour - that’s a fact. They piece together their trip from YouTube, TikTok, Google, and now AI. Many arrive with impressive-looking AI-generated itineraries that sound perfect on screen… but fall apart in real life.
Just recently I held a confirmed 3-day private tour for a family. A week later they cancelled because a family member had created a full AI itinerary and wanted to “set up her own tour.” The plan looked comprehensive, but it was riddled with timing errors that are simply impossible in Hong Kong. The financial loss to me was US$2,500+. More importantly, that family risked turning their dream trip into an exhausting, stressful experience.
AI Tour Itineraries | timing, timing, timing | Hong Kong
Timing and pacing for short visits to Hong Kong
Think on this for a second
In a compact 4 to 8 hour tour window in Hong Kong, every hour feels precious. AI typically calculates travel based on ideal conditions, but real movement includes walking to stations, waiting for transport, and - most importantly - the impact of crowds at popular spots. What appears as a quick 30-minute transition can stretch when queues form or you want unhurried time to enjoy the atmosphere., yes that real world scenario kicking in again.
The image above is a real AI Itinerary I received from a guest recently, after they had booked 3 days of private tours with me they then cancelled a few days later presumably because they figured AI had given them the only tool they needed and this not unusual anymore, in the past 6 months in particular it has become very common., I actually laughed when I read the itinerary because there was so many errors related to timing + one restaurant had closed down and another very famous one moved address 4 years ago, but there was so much under and over estimating time, that was the real problem.
The big big problem is that the itineraries put forward are for 12+ hour days, you cannot fit a 12 or 13 hour estimate into an 8 hour private tour! and a specific stop at a popular restaurant was listed at 30 minutes, problem is at the place you could easily wait outside in a line due its popularity and another 30 minutes to get served, bang goes the schedule and 12 hours turns into 16 hours, totally exhausting
On this itinerary AI allocates walking along Hollywood Road to Sheung Wan as from 1pm - 3.30pm the actual reality is you could easily do it in half the time! it then allocates a 2 hour stop at a cheap restaurant which can be done in an hour.. do you see what I am getting at!

Why This Chat Is Perfect in the AI Era
Many families now arrive with AI plans that look great but ignore Hong Kong’s realities: steep hills that drain your energy, MTR (Subway) transfers that take longer than expected, crowd patterns, weather swings, and the simple rhythm of daily life in Hong Kong.
In our two-hour chat I will:
Review your AI-generated (or any self-designed) itinerary in detail
Fix impossible timings and backtracking
Suggest smarter routing and realistic daily flow
Add places and local favourites that AI never finds
Adjust everything to match your group’s energy, mobility, and interests
Answer every question you have about today’s Hong Kong
Most guests leave saying, “This is exactly what we needed.” Two hours with me will resolve timing issues, navigation worries, and missed opportunities before they spoil your trip.
You’ll also leave with:
A crystal-clear picture of today’s real Hong Kong (the one most journalists get wrong)
Tailored insider recommendations - sights and attractions worth your time and tourist traps to skip
Honest answers to every question (no scripts, no filter)
When: Any time that suits you – morning coffee, afternoon tea, or pre-dinner drink. Where: Your hotel lobby, or Hong Kong International Airport for transit passengers. Group size: Private, maximum 6 persons. Duration: 2 hours. Fee: US$200 flat (HK$1,560) - cash on the day. This is the total fee for 1–6 people, not per person. Coffee, tea, drinks or snacks not included. Airport meetings: additional US$25 / HK$200 surcharge.
Payment: in cash in either US$ or HK$
If you prefer, I’m happy to join you for breakfast, lunch or dinner or just a coffee in a restaurant of your choice (I talk more than I eat these days!).

I do not do Food Tours in Hong Kong but I know people that do!

The information above can be shown to restaurant managers in Hong Kong if you are intolerant to gluten and nuts,
I do not do food tours as mentioned above, I have very specific reasons and part of it is that I do not speak Cantonese or write Chinese, I am from Yorkshire in England and I lack the language gene and it is not through lack of trying and yes a lot of restaurants do not have English menu’s or staff who speak conversational English.
.. and yet I have eaten at close to 1,400 restaurants in Hong Kong since January 2nd 1972, my wife was born in Hong Kong and we have been together over 40 years and her first language is Cantonese and a lot of her family are Chinese or half Chinese so I have never had much of an issue!
This does not translate to doing food tours though, yes, I could do them, no problem there but they would never ever be as good as the food tours done by my friends (see the 3 links above) most of their awesome guides are locally born Hong Kong Chinese and obviously food culture is part of their DNA, it is impossible for me to compete with that!
So please feel free to contact them for food tours
I do not do Hiking Tours in Hong Kong but I know someone that does!
I do not do Hiking Tours, never have and never will even though I used to go Hiking a lot when I was a lot younger, The Hong Kong Government is promoting hiking tours so I urge you to contact my friend Sabrina at Hong Kong Trails and Tours, she is a long time Hong Kong resident and and a very experienced hiker with close to 700 Hikes in 15+ years under her belt, please click on the link below
