Google Calendar has a quirk. I can start a day between 7am and 6.30pm. The form is where you choose the start time. The calendar only shows whether the day is free.

Bookings are first come, first served. A blank day usually means I am already working, but there is sometimes still a gap. No harm in asking. If I cannot take you I will point you to people I trust.

Please note that I do not answer the phone, email or WhatsApp while I am with guests. The day in front of me comes first.

A word about young people

Children 17 and under at the time of booking, accompanying adults, are free. They are welcome. I often have three or four of them on a family day.

If under-17s are booking without a parent or guardian, adult prices apply. That has happened once or twice. I have three adult sons. I can manage it.

A lot of Hong Kong companies treat anyone over 11 as an adult. Read their small print.

Price List Notes

If you book an experience, you are booking me. I have lived here since 2 January 1972. I am passionate about Hong Kong and I can be quite blunt.

The figures above are the total for the group, not a per-person fee. They are in US$. To see HK$, multiply by 7.80.

I prefer a maximum of four people. A fifth or sixth adds US$70 per person. Six is the cap.

The night tour is 3 hours, 6.30pm to 9.30pm.

Pay in cash on the day, US$ or HK$. Other currencies only if we have agreed it beforehand. There is no deposit.

I do not do private car tours. The day uses public transport and taxis. I cover ordinary red and green taxi hops up to about HK$70; longer runs are your cost, and blue taxis are never covered. The practical group size is three guests plus me so we fit a standard taxi. If you specifically want a private car for the whole day I can pass the enquiry to a colleague who runs that product.

Included: buses, minibuses, ferries, street trams and the MTR. I pay my own fares.

I do not offer an industry-standard private car tour in Hong Kong, where a tour company hires a car and driver from a private hire firm for the whole day. My policy is different and is set out on the FAQ page. The day uses ordinary public transport, with taxis only as and when I decide they are needed.

The practical maximum is three guests plus me (four people total). That fits a standard red or green taxi. I cannot rely on finding an older five - seater, and it is not roomy enough for five Westerners in any case. I do not use apps to book six - seater taxis. Keeping the group at four including me removes that variable and matches how most days already run.

Included: ordinary public transport on the day - MTR (Subway), buses, minibuses, ferries and Street Tram. I pay my own fares. Red and green taxis are covered for short hops at my discretion, normally up to about HK$70 per ride. Very long runs in a red taxi (Central to Stanley is a typical example) are not covered and is your cost. Blue taxis on Lantau Island are never covered. A run to the Big Buddha or the Tai O Fishing Village can be HK$250 to HK$300, and that is your cost.

I will also NOT cover 2 taxis if the there are 4,5 or 6 people in the group as this is too large a group for a single taxi, I will cover one but not the second

Not included: the Peak Tram, the Airport Express Train, the Ngong Ping 360 cable car, Uber, private cars, meals, drinks, snacks and souvenirs.

I am upfront about this because too many companies and booking sites spring extras on the morning. You will not need a magnifying glass for mine.

For the day itself, HK$400 to HK$500 cash per adult is a sensible start. Cards work in most shops and restaurants. Market stalls and many food stalls want notes.

How To Book

Check the calendar. Fill in the form and submit. Or skip the form and send an email. I know forms are a hassle. Many fields are optional. I will always confirm the booking.

At minimum I need: names, how many people, date, start time, number of hours, hotel or meeting point, and anything else that matters.

Last-minute is possible, preferably with 24 hours’ notice. First come, first served.

Once I have received the form I will respond very quickly

Based on individuals, small & large families and groups of people - for example Cruise Ship passengers, Business People, MICE Conference Attendees, Student Study Groups

Ideally no more than 4 people with a maximum of 6 people
