Flickr is the perfect repository to store and share images that you take, I am a Pro member so I pay a yearly fee but I can upload as many full size images as I want, there is NO limit
“I have been taking photgraphs since I was a kid and had I made another decision back in the day I would have become a professional photographer.
It was not to be and I only got back into photography when I started a new career as a Private Tour Guide in Hong Kong, I started out using a few shots on my very basic iphone back in 2010, ugraded to a point and shoot digital camera and then decided to go all in and bought a very expensive Sony digital camera in 2014 and then bought an improved version of the same camera in 2016 and I still use it to this day.
I am now at the stage where I am thinking of getting a Hasselblad digital camera (I used a Hasselblad film camera in my late teens)
We shall see!”

i have taken and uploaded to my Flickr site just about 174,500 images since I became a Pro Member over 10 years ago and virtually all of them with this camera shown above.
I should point out that I am not in anyway a professional photographer, at best I am an enthusiastic amateur, I have no interest in selling my images because frankly they are not that great, good, but not great.
I have neither the time or patience to learn about the art of photography and all the camera settings, every single image I have taken with this camera is on the AUTO setting, I am not embarrassed by my lack of professional proficiency, actually the exact opposite, I am happy to just take the shot and every now and then one makes me really smile! and yes, the quality actually is reflected by my use of auto and very light editing using Photoshop Camera Raw Filter, I have been told by quite a few people that my images reflect reality when it comes to lighting and such.
This is the copy on every single image on my Flickr site
☛ Photography is simply a hobby for me, I do NOT sell my images and all of my images can be FREELY downloaded from this site in the original upload image size or 5 other sizes, please note that you DO NOT have to ask for permission to download and use any of my images!
I have had many people including my wife telling me to sell my images, I have no interest in that, primarily because they are simply not good enough, but more importantly because I simply do not mind if people want to use my images for whatever purpose as a blogger it is a very tedious process to get permission to use images, so I use my own and and let people download my images with no fuss and no cost.
As a prolific blogger I use my own images but I do use images I download from Shutterstock, not images of things but logos and such that use in my blog posts and I can tell you that Shutterstock is an expensive service to use but I am not proficient in the dark art of Photoshop (our number 2 son does Graphic Design work for a living but I do not want to bother him)
I have seen my images popping up in all sorts of blog posts and news articles around the world, even in Airline magazines and such and you will find my truck and car images on hundreds of Flickr sites
I am not a camera snob but I do feel that even the smartest smart phones are still light years behind a proper and expensive digital camera with a full frame lens and I shake my head at the over use of Instagram filters, a heavily filtered image of Hong Kong “hidden gems and secret spots” on Instagram generally bears no resemblance to actual reality.
I do not generally read online articles about professional photographers and their work, I read articles about the camera only, in other words the pros and cons of a particular model. I rather doubt that a professional photographer would ever admit to LUCK being a factor in a great shot. I will tell you now, luck is probably the biggest factor. One of the things that I learnt from a Professional Photographer when I was a teen was simply to take the shot oh and have the patience to stand in the same place for 4,5 or 6 hours - wise words when it comes to my car photography. I am untouchable in Hong Kong when it comes to that as my patience is rewarded time and time again and I have 105,000+ car images.
These days an average shoot for me is 4 or 5 hours with 1,200 - 1,500 images - processing them takes an awful lot of time
I should also point out that there is a lot of logic to how I keep my Flick site organised, extensive use of albums is very important to me, some albums are sorted by newest image first and some alphabetically, I have close to 2,700 albums now but there is method and logic to the madness!
So there you go, if you want to get a feel of Hong Kong then have a look at my Flickr site.
