Announced in November 2024 unveiled in early May 2025
“Bentayga EWB brings extended luxury to The Peninsula Hong Kong
Four bespoke Bentayga EWB Azure models join The Peninsula Hong Kong, the flagship property of The Peninsula Hotels
Personalised, luxury SUVs prepared by Mulliner, Bentley's coachbuilding and bespoke division
Finished in signature Peninsula Green, colour-matched by the technicians of Bentley’s paint shop, with a two-piece fine line in Honey
Cabins in Saddle and Beluga completed by unique details, bringing modern interpretation of classic themes
The Peninsula Hong Kong becomes the second Peninsula hotel to adopt Bentleys, following The Peninsula London which opened in 2023.
(Crewe, 27 November 2024) Bentley Motors is proud to have delivered a fleet of four personalised Bentayga EWB Azure SUVs to The Peninsula Hong Kong, the Flagship of The Peninsula Hotels that opened in 1928. Following the arrival of four bespoke Bentayga Hybrid’s at The Peninsula London earlier this year, the original and founding Peninsula hotel has chosen to bolster its fleet of chauffeur-driven house cars to include the extended-wheelbase Bentayga, which offers a larger cabin than any other luxury competitor.
The four cars were specified by The Peninsula in conjunction with the Design team in Mulliner, Bentley's in-house bespoke and coachbuilding division. The designs make the cars instantly recognisable as Peninsula vehicles, while showcasing the exquisite handcrafted quality provided by Bentley's craftspeople and artisans at its Dream Factory in Crewe, England.
That being said and as long as you where careful it was always a treat to visit there, it was a visual and audio treat! and I have had guests who visited Aberdeen in the 1970’s and where quite shocked at how bland it has become.”
These cars may have been unveiled in November 2024 but I have been to the Hotel over 30 times since then I have not seen any of the 4 new Bentleys or the 6 new Rolls Royce Phantoms until today (people started posting images of them on social media on May 11th 2025)
The Peninsula Hotel has a large underground parking garage underneath the cars outside the Hotel, that must be where they have been “hiding” them, until today I have NOT seen these new cars outside the Hotel.

This is the press release from the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong also in November 2024, I somehow missed this as well! I think that adding 4 new Bentley SUV’s is a bold move given that they have always relied on their 14 Rolls Royce Phantoms but Bentleys are pretty common in Hong Kong and will absolutely appeal to the younger well heeled hotel guests,
Upgrading some of the old Rolls Royce Phantom to a new 2025 version is the right thing to do,.
Honestly, as a car guy I just love that the Peninsula Hotel has such an amazing fleet of luxury cars and having at least 3 of them on display outside the Hotel at all times sends all the right messages!
This press release also covers the history of the long relationship between Rolls Royce and the Peninsula Hotel,
“In keeping with its half-century-long tradition of providing superlative transportation for its guests, The Peninsula Hong Kong recently introduced four bespoke Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase (EWB) Azure SUVs to its automotive fleet. The new cars join the hotel’s already-legendary collection of exquisite vehicles – which includes 14 Rolls-Royce Extended Wheelbase Phantoms and a magnificently refurbished 1934 Phantom II.
The arrival of the new vehicles at The Peninsula Hong Kong was greeted in a grand celebration. The handover ceremony at the hotel’s forecourt on 26 November 2024, was held in the presence of The Hon. Sir Michael Kadoorie, Non-Executive Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Ltd. (HSH), who received the keys to the new Bentayga EWB Azures from the CEO of Bentley Motors, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser.
“The acquisition of these vehicles is a truly momentous occasion for The Peninsula,” said Joseph W.Y. Chong, Regional Executive Vice President, Asia, and Managing Director of The Peninsula Hong Kong. “Not only does it align with our legacy of offering the finest available transport to our guests; it also reflects our dedication to providing them with unparalleled experiences at every turn.”
Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bentley Motors commented, “On behalf of Bentley Motors, it was a pleasure to present these four magnificent bespoke Bentaygas to Sir Michael Kadoorie and The Peninsula Hong Kong. The team of artisans at our Dream Factory in Crewe, England, which individually handcrafted and personalised these cars are rightly proud of the end result, and we are delighted that The Peninsula Hotels continues to adopt Bentleys into their chauffeur fleets.”
A New Generation of Luxury Ride
The automotive collection – which includes the classic Rolls-Royce Phantoms, Bentley Bentaygas, and Toyota Alphards – ensuring that hotel guests experience The Peninsula’s signature elegance and comfort during every part of their journey. Both the Bentley Bentayga EWB Azures and the hotel’s four new bespoke Toyota Alphards epitomise a new generation of extra-spacious and sporty transport for guests of The Peninsula Hong Kong.
The Bentayga EWB Azure is a super SUV whose striking design and expansive interiors offer unparalleled comfort to passengers. The hotel’s vehicles feature custom bodywork in signature Peninsula green, with hushed self-closing extended rear doors, and opulent inner compartments with custom-quilted seat backs, veneered picnic tables, individual entertainment screens, a rear control panel, signature audio systems, and Bentley mood lighting. Bespoke extras include a rear-seat massage function, dual wireless chargers in the front and rear seats, and spacious leather-clad luggage compartments.
The hybrid-electric Toyota Alphards, meanwhile, offer ample and eco-friendly transit for family and executive groups. Each has the capacity to seat 6 passengers and is equipped with a myriad of
customised Peninsula extras. These include handheld remote devices for climate control, seats, and lighting, as well as a massage function in the middle rear seats; additionally, a state-of-the-art JBL sound system and a heads-up display showing speed and maps adds both convenience and entertainment during rides.
A Legacy of Superb Transport
Luxury cars have been associated with The Peninsula Hong Kong since the hotel’s earliest days, when the local Studebaker dealership and showroom were located in the rear of the East Wing. The hotel operated its own taxis for many years, before introducing its very first fleet of 5 Lincoln Continentals, a Ford Galaxie, and a station wagon.
In 1970, as part of its continuous efforts to offer guests the most stylish available transport, the hotel made a momentous purchase: a fleet of 7 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadows. The order was the largest ever placed with Rolls-Royce for a single model, and made headlines all over the world. In ensuing years, The Peninsula subsequently broke its own record several times, each time updating its fleet with new collections of splendidly customised Rolls-Royce sedans.
In 2006, the hotel made Rolls-Royce history once again with its acquisition of the 14 Extended Wheelbase Phantoms that still hold pride of place in its fleet. Each of these cars has been impeccably customised to Peninsula specifications, with interiors finished in rich leather and burled walnut, and thoughtful details like customised tread plates, umbrellas, extra capacious luggage compartments, and cooling boxes for chilled hand towels.
Today, transport in a superb luxury vehicle has become an iconic part of a Peninsula Hong Kong stay. From its elegant 1934 Phantom II Sedanca de Ville to its newest super SUVs, the hotel fleet ensures guests enjoy the quintessential Peninsula experience – even away from the property.”
This is the press release from the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong issued on April 25th 2025, I somehow missed this as well! I have not yet worked out if these 4 new Bentley’s and 6 new Rolls Royce Phantoms are increasing the fleet and are in addition to the 14 Rolls Royce Phantoms or if they are replacing the 14 old cars with 10 new cars.
I saw today at the Hotel one of the 14 Rolls Royce Phantoms which have been in service for a while, personally I rather suspect they are retiring the old 14 Phantoms which is a blow to Rolls Royce particularly as the Hotel could have easily bought 4 Rolls Royce Cullinans to continue the brand identity, the Rolls Royce SUV is really awesome.
Sir Michael Kadoorie who is the Chairman of the Peninsula Hotel Group is a major league car collector, he has an amazing collection of cars (including Rolls Royce's and Bentley’s) which he drives himself. We should thank him for having such exquisite taste!
“Continuing its decades-long legacy of automotive excellence, The Peninsula Hong Kong proudly welcomed six new bespoke Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended saloons to its transport fleet on 25 April 2025. The splendid vehicles will be in service commencing late May, offering hotel guests a new generation of luxurious transport – one which blends the iconic heritage of Rolls-Royce with cutting-edge technology.
The fleet expansion is just the latest iteration of a time-honoured partnership between The Peninsula and Rolls-Royce, built upon the shared values of impeccable craftsmanship, service, and attention to detail. Since 1970, this collaboration has repeatedly made Rolls-Royce history through the hotel's series of record-setting orders.
“The arrival of these six bespoke Rolls-Royce Phantoms represents a new benchmark for The Peninsula Hong Kong,” said Joseph W.Y. Chong, Regional Executive Vice President, Asia, and Managing Director of The Peninsula Hong Kong. “Much like The Peninsula, Rolls-Royce embodies the pinnacle of style, quality, and timeless elegance. With their extraordinary design and high-tech comforts, these motorcars will further allow us to extend our legendary hospitality and finesse beyond our doors.”
A Peerlessly Illustrious Partnership
The Peninsula and Rolls-Royce have maintained an enduring relationship for more than half a century, beginning with The Peninsula Hong Kong’s first record-breaking Rolls-Royce order in 1970.
The Peninsula Hong Kong placed an unprecedented order for seven Silver Shadows– the largest single order ever placed with Rolls-Royce. The purchase sparked international attention in the motoring world and hotel industry, but was just the first of numerous record-setting contracts between the two brands.
Six years later, on 15 June 1976, eight more Rolls-Royce Silver Shadows rolled out of the factory at Crewe in England, destined for The Peninsula Hong Kong. Once again, it was the largest single order the marque had received since the hotel’s previous purchase in 1970.
Seven weeks later, on 4 August, the gleaming new vehicles purred up the driveway to The Peninsula, replacing the Lincolns and the two remaining Rolls-Royces from the older fleet. Painted in smart Astrakhan Brown, each new car proudly carried the crest of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited on its rear doors. The vehicles were chauffeured by drivers dressed in elegant forest-green uniforms.
This tradition of excellence continued over the years, with The Peninsula Hong Kong setting new records with each successive order. In 1980, the hotel took delivery of an order for nine Silver Shadow IIs; in 1987, eight Silver Spirits arrived. In 1994 the hotel welcomed not only nine Silver Spur IIIs, but also a spectacular vintage 1934 Phantom II Sedanca de Ville. These were followed by nine more Silver Spurs in 1995, another four in 1998, and yet another one in 2004.
The partnership reached another historic moment in December 2006 when The Peninsula Hong Kong unveiled 14 new Extended Wheelbase Phantoms, each meticulously handcrafted to bespoke specifications and finished in the iconic "Peninsula Green," adding to an already exceptional fleet which to this day continues to expand.
The Age of The Phantom
Rolls-Royce first introduced the Phantom in 1925, and over subsequent years the model won international renown – as well as favour from royalty, heads of state and A-list celebrities. In 2003, a new release was launched: the Phantom Extended Wheelbase. It has since become one of the most iconic super-luxury cars in the world.
The six brand-new Phantom Extended at The Peninsula Hong Kong are defined by new features, including a reimagined front fascia with an illuminated grille which emanates a lustrous glow. The grille’s upper polished bar also perfectly aligns with new Daytime Running Lights, forming a powerful and prominent horizon line; while new headlights, a fresh wheel design and new infotainment technology all add to the allure of the car.
The upgraded LED dashboard delivers crystal-clear displays for navigation, interior/exterior temperature, and real-time vehicle performance data. Seamless Bluetooth integration allows guests to effortlessly stream music or other audio entertainment from their preferred audio platform through the bespoke sound system. For passengers, rear-seat luxury reaches new heights with multi-function seats featuring massage and ventilating capabilities; the rear compartment also includes elevating footrests for optimal comfort on long journeys.
Additional features include personalised illuminated treadplates, pockets for iPad storage, anti-slip picnic tabletops, IP air vents, a boot apron, and additional boot capacity for luggage.
The grandest member of The Peninsula Hong Kong’s fleet remains the magnificent and immaculately restored 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Sedanca de Ville, which is just six years younger than the hotel itself, having made its debut on the stand of Messrs Barker & Co (Coachbuilders by Appointment to HM The King and HRH The Prince of Wales) at the London Motor Show in October 1934.
Prior to its arrival at The Peninsula in 1994, the 1934 Phantom II was restored to its former glory at Keith Bowley’s Ashton Keynes Vintage Restorations, where a team of craftsmen has specialised in the renovation and recreation of veteran, vintage and classic cars since 1969 at their workshop in England. The motorcar was also appointed with a number of contemporary, bespoke features to cater to the needs of modern discerning guests. With a roof that folds back so the driver is able to sit in the open air, in a style typical of the period, the car splendidly harks back to bygone days of truly grand automobiles.
Today, guests at The Peninsula Hong Kong can choose from an array of opulent transport options. Along with its collection of superbly customised Rolls-Royces, the hotel’s current fleet includes Bentleys, Alphards, and privately chartered helicopters.”
