Insider tip - My tours do NOT require payment in advance
Hong Kong Private Tours - payment on the day of the tour
Unlike most Online Travel Agencies and Tour Companies I do NOT require payment in advance when you book a Private Tour of Hong Kong with Jamie

J3 Hong Kong Private Tours and Experiences - Payment
I am different
Most Tour Companies in Hong Kong require a minimum 50% deposit when you book the tour and the balance IN ADVANCE of the Tour or 100% in advance of the Tour to treat the tour as confirmed and Online Travel Agents such as Viator, Tripadvisor, Get Your Guide etc require FULL payment 48 - 72 hours before the tour by credit card.
I do NOT require ANY deposit from you, payment in cash in either HK$ or US$ on the day is the deal, if you do not turn up or cancel at the last minute I do not get paid, please bear this in mind. Payment in currencies other than US$ or HK$ - please contact me for confirmation.
Below is pretty much the industry standard when you book a tour with an Online Travel Agency such as Viator, Tripadvisor, Get Your Guide etc
I am different | I can accept a booking up to a year in advance with NO deposit and payment on the day of the Private Tour of Hong Kong.
So this is what an Online Travel Agency requires for you to confirm your booking.
Right from my first tour in April 2011 my policy has always been payment on the day of the tour, this has never changed and yes there was a time when i accepted payment by credit card via the Payoneer Mastercard system but I had a lot of issues it was not an easy payment method and I would ask for payment 7 days in advance (which I was NOT comfortable with) as invariably it took time for a credit card payment to be processed.
Call me old fashioned but I do trust people to pay me in cash on the day of the tour.
I have been in the tour business for many years and I know how it works with Tour Companies, if you cancel the tour for whatever reason you may face a protracted fight to get the payment back in a timely fashion as companies will come up with all sorts of excuses not to refund you.
If you do not turn up for the tour for whatever reason, then it is my loss not yours and frankly it very rarely happens, I am pretty practical and I understand that travel plans can change, flights can be delayed or cancelled.
It is the same with the large Online Travel Agents who claim refunds are made quickly which means 7 - 30 working days after you cancelled and it may require a lot of messages back and forth.
I have NO relationships with Online Travel Agents such as Viator, Tripadvisor, Get Your Guide - to me they do not add any value at all to the process but you have to pay them a huge commission on every booking and you get paid once or twice a month if you are lucky (and many companies raise their prices to cover all this nonsense) - you also have to conform to their standards so it is a standard template tour format which is very complex and full of stuff that is not required, on the same page as the tour booking form they list similar tours by your competitors, it is impossible to judge the quality of the offering and with a lot of vendors they offer different prices for the same tour (some have 3 or 4 pricing options and good luck trying to work out why there are so many price options)
All of my friends list on these platforms, that is their choice and they do this because they can get a substantial amount of bookings which is very helpful if you have a team of salaried tour guides on the books, I am a team of ONE, it is just me and I would rather not be overwhelmed with bookings which I have to pay them a huge commission.
Just bear in mind that on the Viator site (just as an example) all the listings look pretty much the same and it can be almost impossible to figure out who is great and who is rubbish, for this you need to track down the companies website and deal with them directly.
I am a small operator and it really annoys me that these huge Online Travel Agencies are dominating the tour market these days and yet they offer NO real value, they do not care about the tour operator or the guest and care even less about the quality of the tour all they want is the next booking so they can report favourable quarterly earnings.
That is the way the world works in this day and age and I have learnt to live with it.

I am different
A lot of Tour Companies in Hong Kong are very vague on the subject of what is included or not included in the fee, I am totally upfront and clear so that there is no misunderstanding.
J3 Hong Kong Private Tours and Experiences - Charges that are NOT included in my Private Tour Fee
J3 Premium Private Hong Kong Tours and Experiences
Payment in CASH when we meet in US$ or HK$
| IMPORTANT | NOT Included in my FEE - see below
The cost of any transport such as Taxi's, Buses, Mini Buses, Ferries, Trams, The Peak Tram, The MTR (Subway), The Airport Express Train, NP 360 Lantau Cable Car etc. - in other words, transport costs are your responsibility. - sometimes in the interests of time I will suggest taking a Taxi rather than other means of transport, I will always give you the option as a Taxi will be more expensive.
Meals / Drinks / Snacks / Souvenirs etc.
Please note - I pay my own transport costs
I need you to be very clear about these additional costs so there are no surprises on the day, I have always been upfront about these Transport Costs and Miscellaneous Expenditures - Transport costs are on the whole very affordable when compared to most major world cities and that includes taxis.
Please note that if you do not want to fill in the booking form to book, no problem, simply send me an email or fill in my simple contact form on the contact page and let me have the relevant details. I know that forms can be a hassle to complete!
At a minimum I need the names of the people going on the tour, date of the tour, start time, number of hours, name of the hotel I will meet you + any other information you think is relevant | please note I will always confirm I have received a booking.
My insider tip 1
Please note that in general if you book a tour on Viator or Tripadvisor you generally have NO control over what guide will lead your Private Tour of Hong Kong and this is the most important component of the tour. I urge you to check the actual company website and book via their website and do not forget to read Tripadvisor reviews as well.
My insider tip 2
This tour/activity will have a maximum of 100 travellers
I would strongly recommend you read the “additional information” section on the tour template common on Online Travel Agents sites, there are quite a few companies who do group tours and have a maximum limit of 100 people on the tour, this is just awful, often they have 30 or 40 guests which is bad enough, but a 100 ? with a salaried tour guide speaking through a microphone in poor English with a memorised script trying NOT to lose anyone
